Overview

The 2009 Cadillac XLR-V is a two-seat retractable-hardtop roadster. It is a contemporary expression of Cadillac's heritage of landmark design and advanced technology. This sporty, agile roadster shares some parts with the Chevrolet Corvette, but gets its own unique styling and a supercharged V8 engine. The 4.4L Northstar V8 helps it to get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 supercharged seconds. For 2009, Cadillac XLR-V comes in a single trim level, as last year's Alpine White Edition is discontinued.

Power and performance

The 2009 Cadillac XLR-V receives power from a supercharged 4.4-liter Northstar V8 engine that churns out 443-horsepower. The engine is teamed with 6-speed Hydra-Matic electronically controlled automatic transmission with overdrive and torque converter clutch. Performance algorithm Shifting and Driver Shift Control (DSC) for clutchless manual operation; performance-tuned dual mode magnetic ride control; magnasteer steering; and performance brakes are also provided in power components. The 2009 Cadillac XLR-V achieves 14-mpg in the city and 23-mpg on the highway.

Body and styling

The 2009 XLR-V is a 2-door, 2-passenger, sports car available in a single trim and a Roadster body style. Cadillac has designed the XLR-V like other V-Series vehicles with polished wire-mesh upper and lower grilles, a sculpted hood, and four stainless-steel exhaust tips. This stylish roadster is loaded with ritzy features including 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels; adaptive forward lighting; power- opening and -closing decklid; xenon bi-functional High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with Twilight Sentinel automatic lamp control and headlamp washers; power retractable hardtop; keyless access; 9-speaker Bose?? sound system; touch-screen and voice-activated DVD-based Navigation System; hand-wrapped leather trimmings surrounding both driver and passenger; perforated suede-fabric seat inserts; black olive ash wood appointments; and more.

Safety Features

Standard safety equipment on the 2009 Cadillac XLR-V includes antilock disc brakes; traction control; StabiliTrac electronic stability control system; and a tire pressure monitor system. The XLR-V also has side airbags which inflate to protect both the head and torso in the event of a collision.
