Overview
The 2012 Cadillac SRX is a five-door, five-passenger front engine transaxle; front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive mid-luxury crossover vehicle with a contemporary design and more-efficient, high-technology engine choices. The SRX is powered by a fuel-efficient direct injected 3.0L V6 engine that delivers an estimated 265 horsepower and 223 lb-ft of torque paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. A 2.8L turbocharged V6 engine rated at 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque is optional. Both engines employ technology that helps produce strong performance that is typical of larger-displacement engines. All-wheel drive and a six-speed auto are standard.
Body and styling
The 2012 Cadillac SRX is a fresh and compelling crossover aimed squarely at the priorities of luxury buyers. It rides on a wide track that was designed to deliver a nimble and responsive driving experience. It seats five, has generous occupant and cargo room, and can tow up to 3,500 pounds. A multi-piece shield grille and Cadillac's iconic vertical headlamps - with light pipe technology and available adaptive forward lighting are the key exterior features. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard and 20-inch wheels are available.
On the inside, an integrated center stack houses controls for climate and audio systems, while the navigation system rises from the center of the instrument panel. The Cadillac script logos in the front door sill plates illuminate when the doors are opened.
The 2012 SRX features a number of advanced electronic features like a "pop-up" navigation screen featuring 3D imaging; adaptive forward lighting that swivels the headlamps in sync with vehicle steering; power liftgate with adjustable height setting; integrated hard disk drive for audio storage, and a dual-screen system for rear entertainment. Bluetooth compatibility is standard and OnStar's turn-by-turn navigation service is available.
